December 23 A week in IndiaHey guys, as I always said, if you can survive in Guangzhou, you can survive in any part of the world. I have been surviving in Guangzhou for 23 years, so I am alive and well in India.
Hve been here for a week and found myself getting used to the setting here. Found out that actually prices here are same as Guangzhou so I am not living a rich guy here. Hve been working for a week, and got to know much about Indian thinking, Indian culture so I feel life pretty fruitful here.
Right now I am designing the questionnare for the young people project abd I need the advice from you.
What methods do you think we can adopt to change their attitude towards hardworking?
I am feeling tired, but will update more in a few days time.
Wish all you guys Merry Christmas December 18 My first daytoday is the first day to work in DIR. I went directly to Janta Colony, which is a slum for poor people near the city of Chandigarh. DIR has been working in this area for 2 years and made certain contributions especially to small kids and pregnant women. To change the poor situation of a area it is better to teach people how to find a solution than giving them solutions. So we trainees are mainly responsible for changing the people's attittude. Tough job it is, all the team is confident because we believe that if we dont do anything the situation can be worse. So I decided to do sth with young men here who have been very lazy and not willing to work. Tomorrow I am going to work with Lieke, a Dutch girl who had been here for 3 months on this project.
Things are new here yet similar as in China, I think I can do my best as a Chinese here.
God, everyday is new to me, how can I have enough time talking with all of you? Wish I had 3 heads and 6 arms. December 16 In Incredible India2today visited a few famous places around Chandigarh like Rock Garden which is made of junks and waste but is so innovotive. Chilled out in a cafe in Punjab University and had tea and coffee for just 12 Rupees(2 RMB) in total. Weather is lovely with a good sunshine and breeze but still feeling cold. Dare not eat so much since I will be stuffed with vegitables here and my tooth ached a bit.
The most brilliant part turned out to be the General Body Meeting (GBM) of AIESEC Chandigarh that I was introduced to the crew as the newest trainee in town. AIESEC members in Chandigarh are so passionate and well organized, meanwhile, they are proactive and care much about the development about the LC like fix asset or how to raise fund for the coming National Congress of India. I was amazed to find that compared to Chinese AIESECers, Indian AIESECers are more smart in work and party.
Much to be shared but I am too tired now so please wait for my next travelogue:) December 15 In Incredible India 1.Have so much to share with you, the first day in India was like I have never left China since except for languages and the skin complexion, we people seem to be the same.

Delhi is old and foggy, cold in the dim light with a bustling of cars on the narrow streets. I mistook it as some medium size towns in central China at first sight, nothing too vivid. Then I saw the people, the crowd awaiting outside the airport(which is pretty old), the drivers who wave heads when they wanted to confirm their idea, the huge Devanagari ads outside a small stores, I realized I am, finally, here in India.
The first night is quite peaceful, little bit tired (2 and a half hours later then China) after 6 hours and a half on the plane so I took a quick shower and went to bed. My watch points at 2:04 am (4:34 am BJ Time).
Next day, Ankur's mum knocked at my door at 8 sharp, serving me with hot tea and biscuit, felt so warm. Finished it quickly (I really did some preparation before coming to India so I know some rituals and the fact that tea is a daily need here) I took a walk with Ankur's dad in the small playground near the mansion. Delhi again welcomed me with thick fog and dry weather, but the cold air completely woke me up. My first Indian breakfast was bread, orange juice, onion salad with cooked tomato thick sauce, started to feel a little ache on my teeth. Anur's family was so kind that they even provided me the food on my way to Chandigarh. Suffered from a stomache, I only MISSY some fruits. Again, everyone drank tea when the bus stopped over at a resort for toilet.
Reached Chandigarh at 5:15pm local time and met with Tusharp, so nice to have an AIESECer recieved you because you can easly find a topic to chat. But we chatted too excitedly that he nearly crashed the car into another. His house is one of the typical dettached mansions in this City of Beautiful, 2 floors with a courtyard in a tranquil community named MANI MAJARA. At 9 pm I had another homemade India vegi dinner.
Toothache woke me up this morning and gave me the chance to write down my story in India, haha. Hope our Chinese medicine can cure Indian toothache. I feel too much heat in my body!!! You guys know what I mean lar!
Take care of yourself my dear friends. December 13 |
